Notes for RALPH AKERS, SR.:

(e-mail from Alice Smith [smitham@p2.acadia.net] of Mt. Desert Island, Maine, received 21 Dec 1996)

Had a Vacation/Research trip to NJ late last month: found lots of Goodies--again--including a little "byte" on Ralph Akers... His name was on a list of freeholders, dated 24 August 1762, where he was levied 4 shillings, 6 pence toward raising a sum of 1`20 pounds for "use of the Poor." This from the Nottingham Township Minute Book, 1692-1710 / 1752-1772. So if he removed to VA with Robert and Sarah and all the rest perhaps they didn't go until later that Fall. Nottingham was a section of Trenton, in the southern part of the town.
