an old and respected resident of New Florence, died at the home of his
daughter, Mrs. Clem Hamer, of Blairsville, last
Tuesday aged 80 years. Besides the
daughter mentioned above, he is survived by the following children: Matthew Haire, of
New Florence; James Haire, of Pittsburg; Bert Haire, of Derry; Mrs. Emma Campbell, of Blairsville; Thomas
Haire and Mrs. William Shetler,
of Bolivar, and Mrs. Minnie Feathers, of Philadelphia. Funeral services were held at Blairsville on
Friday afternoon, interment being made in the Blairsville cemetery."

Follows Daughter to Grave Within Few Days.
Mrs.
Lavina Haire, aged 79
years, of New Florence, died last week at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Edward
Dodson, of Derry. Mrs. Haire was called to the home
to nurse the children of her daughter, who, together with her husband, died
within two days recently, from pneumonia, resulting from influenza. While the
children recovered their grandmother contracted a fatal attack of the malady.
Mrs. Haire was born in West Wheatfield township, this
county, and was a daughter of the late Philip Lichtenfels.

Mathew
Stanley Hair
At
the home of his nephew and niece, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Hair, in Derry Township,
south of Derry, on Monday afternoon at 4 o'clock, following a stroke which he
suffered a week ago, Mathew Stanley Hair, passed away. He was born in New
Florence on May 2, 1861, a son of James L. and Clemenzy
Caldwell Hair. He was a retired employe of the Derry Works of the Westinghouse
Electric and Manufacturing Company, having been a pugmill
operator. The following brothers and sisters survive: James and Albert Hair, of Derry; Mrs. Mary
Feathers, of Altoona; Mrs. Flora Shetler, of
Robinson; Mrs. Clemenzy Hamer,
of Blairsville; Mrs. Emma Campbell, of Livermore. His wife passed away in 1936.
He was a member of the Masonic order. Friends will be received at the home of
his nephew, Thomas Hair, until noon Thursday, when the body will be taken to
New Florence where services will be held in the Methodist Church at 1:30, in charge
of the Rev. G.E. Chandler, pastor of the Derry Methodist Church. Interment will
be made in the Laurel Hill Cemetery, near New Florence.

- James Trimmel [probably "Trimble" - see
note below - ed.] Hair, 82, a retired P.R.R. yardmaster at Pittsburgh, died
Monday evening at the home of his sister, Mrs. William Hamer,
near here. He was a native of New Florence, where he was born on Apr. 29, 1863,
a son of James L. and Clemmezy (Caldwell) Hair. Mr.
Hair, who retired 12 years ago, had resided with his sister the past three and
one-half years.
Surviving
are a daughter, Mrs. Edna Little, Pittsburgh, and three sisters - Mrs. Mary
Fetter [Feathers - ed.], East Freedom; Mrs. Emma Campbell, Livermore, and Mrs.
William Hamer, Blairsville R.D.
Funeral
services will be conducted at the Hamer residence at
2 p.m. Thursday by Rev. A.W. Sandberg, pastor of the Blairsville Methodist
Church. Interment in the Blairsville Cemetery will be directed by the Ferguson
Funeral Home, Blairsville.

James T. Hair's maternal grandmother's maiden name was Trimble.]

Albert
L. Haire, 72, of Derry Township, near Blairsville,
lost his life Saturday night when he was struck by an automobile on the William
Penn Highway in Blairsville. He was pronounced dead on admission to Latrobe
Hospital. Hospital attaches said the man had suffered a fracture of the skull.
Blairsville
police said Haire was struck by a car driven by
Nelson H. Gundy, 18, of near New Alexandria. Gundy told police he was traveling
up grade after crossing the Bairdstown bridge and
that the aged man stepped from the rear of a parked car into the path of his
machine.
Police
said that Gundy brought his car to a stop within 10 feet after striking the
pedestrian. Gundy was released pending the outcome of an inquest. Albert L. Haire was born in New Florence on July 24, 1869. He was a
son of James and Clemzy (Caldwell) Haire.
Surviving
are his widow, Mrs. Anna (DeWalt) Haire,
Johnstown, and five children--Mrs. Alice Keifer,
Johnstown; Mrs. Irene Shaffer, Windber; Mrs. Daniel Gagliardo,
New York City, N.Y.; William Haire, Johnstown, and
Matthew Haire, Derry.
He
was a brother of James Haire, Blairsville; Mrs.
William Hammer, Blairsville; Mrs. Adam Feathers, East Freedom; Mrs. Flora Shetler, Bolivar, and Mrs. Clark Campbell, Livermore.
There
are 21 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral
services will be conducted at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at the home of his
son, Matthew Haire, in Derry by Rev. A.W. Sandberg,
pastor of the First Methodist Church, Blairsville. Interment in Laurel Hill
Cemetery, New Florence, will be directed by the Ferguson Funeral Home,
Blairsville.

Funeral
services for Adam Lewis Hair of Derry, former Johnstown resident, who was
injured fatally early yesterday morning when he was struck down by a car on the
Derry Blairsville Road, will be held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon in this
city.
The
rites will be conducted at the home of the deceased's sister, Mrs. Walter Keifer of 89 Birch Street, Morrellville.
Interment will be in the Laurel Hill Cemetery, near New Florence, under the
direction of Stephen J. Conway, local mortician.
Adam
Hair left Johnstown in 1924, after having resided in Morrellville
for nearly eight years. He was born near New Florence 39 years ago, a son of
Albert and Nancy (DeWitt) Hair. In addition to his parents, now residing in
Derry, the victim is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mabel (Learn) Hair, and the
following children:
Alvina, Ortha, Agnes, Nancy,
Carl, Louella, Roene and
Naomi Hair, all at home. Adam Hair was a brother of Alice, wife of Walter Keifer of Birch Street, where funeral services will be
held; Irene, wife of William Shaffer of Windber; Fern, wife of Cecil Thayer of Cairnbrook; William Hair of Derry and Matthew and Ida Hair
of New York City.
Mr.
Hair was a private in the U.S. Army during the World War. He enlisted at
Indiana in August, 1918, and was discharged the following April. The deceased
also was a member of the United Mine Workers of America.
