Was a Brother of the Late Mrs. Martin Clark, Who Died Sunday in Morrellville

PLAN DOUBLE FUNERAL

Sergt. William C. Shannon, a half-brother of Mrs. Martin J. Clark, who died Sunday at the Clark home, 196 Barron avenue, Morrellville, passed away this morning between 11 and 12 o'clock at the Memorial Hospital, where he recently underwent an operation. The funeral of Mrs. Clark and that of Sergt. Shannon will take place at the same hour on Thursday afternoon, the services to be conducted by the Rev. William I. Good, pastor of Grace Lutheran Church, and the Rev. Homer C. Renton, pastor of Calvary Methodist Episcopal Church. Edward Haire, of Franklin Borough, is a brother of Mrs. Clark and half-brother of Sergt. Shannon. Sergt. Shannon served 30 years in the United States Army. He enlisted before the Spanish-American War and was with the U.S. forces in Cuba, in the Philippines, with the Allies during the Boxer uprising in China, and was stationed along the Mexican border when mustered out of service some time ago. Sergt. Shannon was born at New Florence, Westmoreland County.

Well-known Resident of Near New Florence Victim of Pneumonia.

Special to The Tribune.

New Florence, March 2.-Matthew H. Shannon, sixty years old, died early this morning at his home above New Florence. His death was due to pneumonia, with which he was ill about one week. Until taken sick, he was employed for many years on the P.R.R. He is survived by his wife, six children, one brother, and one sister, Mrs. Clarke, of Morrellville.

Mrs. Nancy Shannon.

Nancy, wife of Matthew Shannon, died at her home in New Florence at 8 o'clock Wednesday evening, after a week's illness, aged thirty-eight years. She is survived by her husband and nine small children, viz: Annie, aged seventeen years; Walter, fourteen; John, twelve; Nelson, ten; Sadie, eight; Charles and Willie, five; Frank, three, and Clarence, eleven months. The funeral took place at 10 o'clock yesterday afternoon from the New Florence United Brethren Church, of which she was a member. Rev. J.S. Fulton conducted the obsequies, after which interment was made in the Laurelhill Cemetery.
