Died at his home in Gaysport yesterday. He was about 73 years of age and had
been an invalid for years. During the civil war he enlisted in the union army.
The deceased was married twice. His children by his first wife are John of Ore
Hill, Calvin of Duncansville, Arthur of Saxton, David of Gaysport,
and Mrs. John McIntyre of Reservoir. His second wife and three daughters also
survive him. The remains will be taken to Newry tomorrow morning for interment.

REFFNER:
Mrs. Jane Helsel died July
31 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Loretta Baumgardner,
near New Enterprise. She was born Sept.
30, 1850, in that vicinity, a daughter of Henry and Elizabeth Reffner, and was
one of 13 children. Her husband, who was
John Helsel, preceded her in death. Two
daughters and a son survive, Mrs. Rufus Koontz of Yellow Creek, David Helsel of
East Freedom and the daughter above mentioned.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday morning at the Holsinger Church of the Brethren and interment made in the
adjoining cemetery.

Of 118 Garber street,
Hollidaysburg, died at his home at 12 o'clock noon Saturday of a complication
of diseases after a long illness. He was born in Bedford county, on April 3,
1850, and spent the greater part of his life in Hollidaysburg. His wife, Mrs.
Emma (Karns) Helsel, died fifteen years ago.
Surviving are one daughter and two sons, Miss Hattie at home, Jesse and Howard
Helsel of Hollidaysburg; one brother, Albert Helsel of Hopewell; two
half-sisters, Mrs. Blanche Rodkey and Mrs. Harry
Glasgow of this city, and eleven grandchildren. The body has been removed to
the home of the son Jesse Helsel at 505 Pine street, Hollidaysburg, where
funeral services will be held at 2.30 o'clock tomorrow afternoon. Interment
will be made in the Presbyterian cemetery.

Mrs. Clarissa Keirn, sister of Albert Helsel of Hopewell, Pa., died
suddenly at her home at Altoona, on Saturday night, April 10, aged fifty-nine
years. She leaves her husband George C. Keirn, who
resides in Altoona, and eight children:
Edgar, Howard, Ira Dean, Mrs. D.C. Calvert, Mrs. R.S. Wolfe, Mrs. J.R.
Campbell, of Altoona and Frank J. and Elizabeth at home. Surviving also are,
besides the above named brother, two sisters, Mrs. Blanche Rodkey
and Mrs. Harry Glasgow, of Altoona, and a brother, David Helsel of
Hollidaysburg. She was a member of First Methodist church, the John Knox Bible
class and Lodge 91, L.S. to B. of L. F. and E. Funeral services were held at
the home at 2:30 on Tuesday afternoon with burial in Alto Reste
Park.

MRS. MARY ANN KOONTZ
Of Hopewell, R.D. 1, died
at her home at 1.30 o'clock yesterday afternoon. She was born Dec. 11, 1878, at
New Enterprise, R.D., a daughter of John and Jane (Reffner) Helsel. She was
married to George R. Koontz Aug. 23, 1896. Surviving are her husband, two
daughters, Mrs. Jennie Walters of Bellwood and Mrs. Lottie
Horton of Martinsburg, R.D.; four sons, Hugh of Woodbury, George of Waterside,
Albert of Chambersburg and James of Cleveland, O.; 23 grandchildren, 14
great-grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Loretta Baumgardner
of Altoona, and one brother, David I. Helsel of Roaring Spring. Mrs. Koontz was
a member of the Yellow Creek Brethren church. Friends will be received at the
Byers funeral home, Woodbury, after 7 o'clock this evening.
