Obituary: "Mrs. Elizabeth Carney. Mrs. Elizabeth Carney died of dropsy at the home of her son-in-law, J.F. Williams, in White township, on Saturday morning [10 Aug 1902] at 2 o'clock. The deceased was aged about 70 years. She leaves two sons and a daughter: James A. and John, both of Indiana, and Mrs. Jennie Williams, of White township. The funeral was held on Sunday."

JOHN FRANKLIN CARNEY, son of the late James A., and Mary (Isenberg) Carney, passed away Thursday afternoon at 12:45 in the Indiana Hospital. [here a handwritten note "Feb. 15 1945"]

The deceased was born February 23rd, 1883, in Indiana County. He lived most of his life in Indiana and was a member of the Evangelical Church.

He is survived by one brother, Staff Sergeant, Warren L. Carney, now in Honolulu; three [actually, seven are mentioned-ed.] sisters; Mrs. Ann Long, Philadelphia; Mrs. Jane Eddy, Van Meter; Mrs. Laura Lydick, Mrs. Mary Fields and Mrs. Rose Palmer, all of Indiana; Mrs. Gertrude Phillips, Vandergrift and Mrs. Emma Hagens of Mars.

Friends will be received at the Leydic Funeral Home after 2:00 o'clock this afternoon, Friday. Services will be conducted at the funeral home Saturday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock. Reverend I.D. Swinehart, pastor of the Wesleyan Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery.

WILLIAM R. WILLIAMS, 87, of 353 S. 3rd St., Indiana, died Thursday, March 25, 1982, at the Indiana Hospital.

A son of John F. and Jennie Carney Williams, he was born June 20, 1894 in White Twp., Indiana County.

Mr. Williams was a member of Grace United Methodist Church of Indiana; a life member of VFW Post 1989 of Indiana and World War I Barracks 1273 of Pennsylvania.

He had lived all his life in Indiana County with the exception of five years in Jefferson County. A graduate of Indiana State Teachers College now IUP, he taught in Jefferson County and Indiana County schools. He was an agent for the Nationwide Insurance Company, retiring in 1961. Mr. Williams had traveled in the southwest and had a "rock shop" and "rock jewelry" for several years. A veteran of World War I, he had served in the U.S. Army.

Surviving are his wife, Cora Dunmire Williams; a daughter, Sarah Jane Williams, at home; a brother, Howard B. Williams, Indiana; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and four sisters.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today (Friday) at Robinson-Lytle's, Indiana, where services will be held Saturday, March 27, at 1:30 p.m. The Rev. Ferd B. Park, D.D. will officiate. Interment will be in Harmony Grove Cemetery.

Military services will be conducted at graveside by members of the VFW Post 1989 of Indiana.
