"Of the outer wing of
this church I will now mention uncle John Martin and Widow Peoples. Martin
settled early in this century on that fine place where grandson Andrew died
some years since. He combined weaving and stilling whisky on a small scale,
with farming. His wife was my mother's oldest sister. His family was four
daughters and two sons, all dying early in life, but the youngest son of
Tubercular Taint, supposed to be inherited from the father's side, as the
mother was of a very stout family. He died rather early in life himself, his
wife living many years longer. Although distant, and part way over very rough
steep and crooked road, with a Dearburn wagon all
attended Dr. Scroggs' church regularly, until
disabled by age and infirmity."

Notes for Nathaniel L.
MITCHELL:
When I went to Sewickley Presby looking for Hannah & Nathan Mitchell, I found a
Nathan Mitchel age 10, d. Nov 12, 1812. At WCHS I found
a transcript done by Della Fischer in the summer of 1970 (you know where I'm
going with this, don't you) and it lists:
Nathan Mitchell d. Nov 12,
1842 age 40
There is also a Catherine
Mitchell d. Dec 2, 1838 age 3-3-17. I believe Catherine is buried next to
Nathan, her age would be right to be a daughter but I can't think of anyway to
find out for sure.

of Early Times.
No. XLIX.
The Widow Peoples' family
when I first remember them at the Hermitage school, was two daughters, and son
Joseph yet living on that beautiful Homestead tract of the best of land,
extending from Millcreek, along western border of
Hermitage to the Keardy Myers farm. Since
leaving home do not know
what became of the daughters, but the son whose first wife was second daughter of
the Martin family, is yet living on the same place. This wife died early
leaving two sons and one daughter. His second wife and family I am not
acquainted. I am not
sure if they attend the
ancient church, or if they have backed off into other churches, of more
convenient location.
