Obituary from the Morrison's Cove "Herald" 30 November 1907 issue:

HENRY REFFNER.  At 12:30 o'clock Wednesday morning Henry Reffner died at the home of his daughter Mrs. John Helsel at Lafayettesville, aged 84 years, 5 months and four days.  Mr. Reffner spent most of his years in Morrison's Cove.  He was a member of the Church of God having united with the church many years ago at Hoover's bethel.  He was much interested in church work in which he took an active part, and while he could, attended services regularly.  When services at Hoover's bethel were abandoned and the building torn away his church home was lost to him, yet he remained steadfast in the faith in which he died.

Mr. Reffner suffered a long illness and was confined to his bed nearly four years, or since May 1904.  A few weeks ago he was stricken with paralysis which hastened his demise.  He was well known and esteemed in his neighborhood.  The funeral took place Friday morning, the cortege leaving the house at 10 o'clock.  Services were held in Barley Lutheran church, conducted by Rev. C. Gumbert, pastor of the Reformed church of Loysburg.  He is survived by four children:  Mrs. John Helsel and George Reffner of near Brumbaugh; Sylvester of Rodman station and Jerre of Pitcairn.

His wife preceded him to the grave fifteen years ago.  He was the father of ten children, six of them having also preceded him.  Thirty-five grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren are living.  His remains were laid to rest beside his wife in the Barley cemetery.

Notes for Frosty Irene BURNS:
The Altoona, PA "Mirror" issue of 30 August 1923, p. 20, column 1

MRS. FROSTIE IRENE REFFNER,

Wife of Michael Emory Reffner of 430 East Main street, Roaring Spring, died at the Nason hospital last evening at 5.55 o'clock. Death was caused by typhoid fever and followed a serious illness of less than a week. Mrs. Reffner complained of feeling ill for two weeks but did not become serious until last week following her return from Everett, where she attended a funeral of a relative. On Sunday evening she became unconscious and delirious and remained in this state until death ensued last evening. She was removed to the Nason hospital on Tuesday afternoon and while everything possible was done fo rher, she was beyond human aid. The sudden death of Mrs. Reffner was a distinct shock to her many friends in the borough, many of these not knowing of her serious illness. She was born on Nov. 1, 1889, at Roaring Spring and is a daughter of Mrs. Nancy Helsel of 901 Roosevelt avenue. She resided in the borough her entire life and eight years ago was married to Mr. Reffner, a Taylor township young man. They began housekeeping in the borough, Mr. Reffner being employed in the Pennsy shops at Altoona. She is survived by her husband and mother and four small children, Remis, Otha, Eugene and Elloise, all at home. Three sisters also survive, as follows:  Mrs. Katie Marsden and Mrs. Vallerree Claar, both of Roaring Spring; and Mrs. Etta McGee of Hollidaysburg. She was a member of the Methodist church of Roaring Spring for many years and was also affiliated with the Winona Lodge of Rebekahs and Patriotic Order of America Camp No. 236.
