ADEN H. STIFFLER

Aged 80 and a native of Poplar run, Blair county, died at 8 o'clock last evening at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Charles Lawn of 700 Chestnut street, Gallitzin, where he had resided since the death of his wife, Mary (Lamar) Stiffler, four years ago. He was born Sept. 5, 1872, a son of Abraham and Rachel (Reffner) Stiffler. Surviving are the daughter, Mrs. Lawn, and two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Piper of Duncansville and Mrs. Jean Coy of near VanOrmer. He was married April 7, 1903, in the First Methodist church, Altoona, and resided for 30 years in Cresson, retiring as a carpenter from the railroad company service in 1939 after 34 years of employment. Mr. Stiffler was a member of the Gallitzin Methodist church and of the P.R.R. Veterans organization. Friends will be received after 8 o'clock this evening at the Conrad funeral home.

JONATHAN BEEGLE

Well known Bedford county retired blacksmith, died Saturday morning of a cerebral hemorrhage in his room in the Openheimer rooming house in Bedford, where he had resided since retiring from blacksmithing at Osterburg. He was born in Bedford county June 22, 1862, a son of Henry and Rachel (Fickes) Beegle. His wife died a number of years ago. Surviving are one son and one daughter Elmer Beegle and Mrs. Roy Griffith, both of Osterburg and these brothers and sisters: Joseph and Tate Beegle, both of Newry, Frank of Bedford R.D., Daniel of Duncansville, Samuel of Martinsburg, R.D., Mrs. Sallie Smith of Hollidaysburg and Mrs. Charles Smith of Bedford, R.D., and two grandchildren. He was a member of the Osterburg Lutheran church. Friends will be received at the Carn funeral home in Claysburg.

ELMER JESSE COY

Well known resident of Van Ormer and a retired Pennsylvania railroad section foreman on the Cresson-Irvona branch, died at his home in Van Ormer this morning at 6:30 o'clock. Mr. Coy was born in Huntingdon county on Sept. 20, 1862. He was retired by the Pennsylvania railroad in 1929. Surviving are a son and daughter: Donald K, and Jane Showalter; and two sisters: Verna Troxell and Genevieve Kleinmeyer; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Thomas H. Vandrew of Mountain Lake Park, near Duncansville, at 4.10 p.m. Friday. She was born at Poplar Run, Freedom Township, June 20, 1880, a daughter of Henry and Anna (Stiffler) Leighty, and was united in marriage with Lewis F. Shaw, who died Oct. 29, 1948. Mrs. Shaw was a member of the Dry Run Tabernacle. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Theodore Wertz of Altoona and Mrs. Vandrew; four sons, Roy E. of Greenwood, Wilbur and Budd E. of Altoona and Lewis F. of Newry; one brother, Wilbur Leighty of Newry; one sister, Mrs. Nettie Gill of Hollidaysburg, and 19 grandchildren. He was a member of Dry Run Gospel Tabernacle and preached there for seven years. He retired in 1938 from the Second street tank shop of the PRR after 37 years service. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Martha Jane (Leighty) Shaw; two daughters, Mrs. Elva Wertz and Mrs. Nora Vandrew, both of Altoona; four sons, Ray E., Wilbur and Bud, all of Altoona, and Lewis, Blue Knob; 17 grandchildren and three brothers, Wilson, Miles and Charles, all of Newry. Mr. Shaw, 72, of Shamrock Trailer Park, Mountain Lake, Duncansville, formerly of Altoona, died Tuesday morning, June 29, 1993, at his sister's residence in Mountain Lake, following an extended illness. Mr. Shaw retired from the former Kleffmans and Conrad's Amoco in Altoona, after 35 years' service. He was born April 17, 1921, in Altoona, the son of Lewis L. and Martha J. (Leighty) Shaw. Surviving are two sisters:  Elva Wertz of Valley View Home and Nora Vandrew, with whom he resided, and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Shaw was a member of Dry Run Gospel Tabernacle.
