from Akron, Ohio, eight years ago and to Akron in 1912. Surviving are his wife,
Olive M., at the home; a brother and four sisters, Charles of Altoona, Mrs.
Gertrude Kerr and Mrs. Edna Patterson of Akron, Mrs. Mae Gorsuch of Wilmington,
Del., and Mrs. Verna Callihan of Cincinnati, Ohio. He was a 32nd degree Mason.

AUGUSTUS HITE
Of 440 East Pleasant Valley boulevard,
died at Mercy hospital yesterday morning at 7.05 o'clock. He was born Nov. 30,
1872, at Poplar Run, the son of Samuel D. and Alice E. (Wilt) Hite. He was a
former coal miner. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Mary Moyer of Pinecroft, and
the following brothers and sisters:
Lloyd of Greenwood, Lewis of Bellwood, Harvey of Altoona, Mrs. Elsie
Grove of Hollidaysburg, Mrs. Mary Wysong, with whom he had made his home for a
number of years, and Miss Sara Hite of Altoona. Mr. Hite was United Brethren by
faith. Friends are being received at the Mauk & Yates funeral home.

Ira George Hite, of Greenwood, Blair
county, died at his home Sunday night, May 19, 1940 at 7 o'clock.
Born February 27, 1877, in Blair county,
he was the son of Samuel and Alice (Wilt) Hite.
Member of the family include his wife,
Mrs. Sadie Hite and these children, Mrs. Helen Barbera of Philadelphia, Miss
Hazel Hite of Altoona; Ira George Hite, Jr., of Greenwood, Stanley Hite of
Greenwood, Daniel Hite of Montana and Donald Hite of Altoona; these brothers
and sisters, Josiah A., of Lilly, Lloyd A., of Greenwood, Louis A., of
Bellwood, Harvey B., of Altoona, Mrs. May Boyles of Altoona, Mrs. Blanche Grove
of Hollidaysburg, Mrs. Mary Wysong and Miss Sarah Hite of Altoona; seven
grandchildren and these step-children, Mrs. Ethel McKiernan of Pittsburgh, Mrs.
Helen Lingenfelter, of Altoona, Mrs. Irene Hite of Greenwood, William Fox and
John Fox of Pittsburgh and Samuel Fox of Petersburg.
Mr. Hite retired from the employ of the
P.R.R. as a conductor in the car shop yards on May 15, 1937.
He was a member of the Greenwood United
Brethren church for many years and was also a member of the Order of Railroad
Conductors.

Greenwood will be held from t he Greenwood United Brethren church, with
services at 2.30 o'clock Wednesday in charge of Rev. George Rigg. Interment in

A. HITE
Of Fern street, Greenwood, died at 10.28
o'clock last night in the Altoona hospital where he had been a patient since
last Nov. 30. He was born Aug. 5, 1881, a son of Samuel and Elizabeth Alice
(Wilt) Hite, and retired several years ago as a painter for the Pennsylvania
railroad at East Altoona. His wife, Mrs. Minnie (Wysong) Hite, died in 1947.
Surviving are one son and one daughter, Charles M. and Alberta B., both of
Greenwood; two grandchildren, two sisters and one brother, Mrs. Blanch Grove of
Hollidaysburg, Mrs. Mary Wysong of East End and Lewis of Bellwood. Mr. Hite was
a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance church. Friends will be
received at the Mauk & Yates funeral home after 7 o'clock tomorrow evening.

Of Greenwood, died last evening at 7.25
o'clock at the Altoona hospital after a few days' illness. Born Sept. 8, 1882,
at Blue Knob, the daughter of John and Lucinda (Burk) Wysong. Surviving are her
husband, Lloyd A. Hite; two children, Mrs. Albert Krise of Juniata; and Charles
Hite of Greenwood; one granddaughter, Rhoda Darlene Hite of Greenwood; four
brothers, Charles Wysong, Jess and Roy of Eldorado; and Henry of East End, and
three sisters, Mrs. Emma Smith and Mrs. Elizabeth Smith, both of Eldorado; and
Mrs. Sara Fisher of South Altoona. She was a member of the Christian and
Missionary Alliance church and the ladies' Sunday school class of the church.
Friends will be received at the home after noon Tuesday.

Bellwood Man Dies Suddenly
Lewis
S. Hite, 76, of 1232 N. Cambria St., Bellwood, died unexpectedly at 4.50
p.m. yesterday in the Altoona Hospital where he was admitted at 3.25 p.m. from
his home.
He was born in Puzzletown April 18,
1886, a son of Samuel and Alice (Wilt) Hite, and married Elsie Lynn in
Hollidaysburg Jan. 18, 1911.
Surviving are his wife, six children,
Mrs. Margaret Bollinger, Mrs. Carrie Shope and Mrs. Catherine Bailor of
Bellwood, Victor of Altoona, Mrs. Dorothy Bookhamer of Greenwood and Mrs.
Gladys Hamilton of Juniata; 27 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and a
sister, Mrs. Mary Wysong of Greenwood.
He was a member of the Bellwood E.U.B.
Church and retired in 1953 as a car repairman for the P.R.R. after 35 years of
service.
Friends will be received at the Johnson
Mortuary, Bellwood, after 7 p.m. today.

Of 215 1/2 Lexington avenue, died at
Mercy hospital at 1.50 o'clock yesterday afternoon after an extended illness.
He was born in Puzzletown, Juniata county, Dec. 23, 1890, a son of Samuel and
Alice (Wilt) Hite. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Gertie (Grove) Hite; one daughter,
Madeline; one grand-daughter, Jean Bressler; two sisters, Mrs. Blanche Grove of
Hollidaysburg and Mrs. Mary Wysong of Altoona, and two brothers, Lloyd Hite of
Greenwood and Lewis Hite of Bellwood. Mr. Hite attended the Christian and
Missionary Alliance church. He retired as a brakeman in 1949 from the
Pennsylvania railroad and was a member of the B. of R.T. Friends will be
received at the Axe funeral home after 7 o'clock this evening.

the Pennsylvania Railroad company, died at the home of a daughter, Mrs. O.G.
Nickola of Greenwood, at 1.53 o'clock yesterday afternoon, after several
months' illness. He was born in Poplar Run on Nov. 20, 1859, a son of Fred and
Sarah (Reffner) Wilt, and married Miss Ida May Thompson, who died on Jan. 4,
1934. Mr. Wilt entered the service of the railroad company on Aug. 1, 1879,
holding the position of car inspector from 1907 until his retirement on Aug.
24, 1928. Surviving are one son and seven daughters, Lawrence A. of Greenwood,
Mrs. William H. Fields and Mrs. W.B. Mosser, both of the city, Mrs. C.C. Geddes
of Greenwood, Mrs. H.B. Irwin of Dayton, O., Mrs. O.G. Nickola of Greenwood,
Miss Pauline Wilt of Washington, D.C., and Miss Inez Wilt, at home; thirteen
grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one sister and two brothers, Mrs. Annie
Beck of Greenwood, Fred Wilt of the city and Elmer Wilt of Juniata. The body
may be viewed at the home after 7 o'clock this evening.

Wilt of Greenwood will be conducted by Rev. Paul L. Foulk of Trinity Lutheran
church, Juniata, at the home Thursday afternoon at 2.30 o'clock. Private
interment in Greenwood cemetery. The body may be viewed at the home after 7
o'clock this evening.
